The best thing Pokemon Adventures ever did was to take the “brash” rival, the guy who keeps bumping into you in the games in caps lock, the guy who yells about million yen penalties for tardiness and then always runs ahead, the most hasty and loudmouthed rival Pokemon had up to that point … and gave him the braincell. He’s loud, but that’s because he’s the self-appointed leader and motivator. He’s the primary strategist. He’s the first to call retreat when things go south and tends to have the bigger picture in mind. And then. Then they made his partner the slow one. The calm one. The perpetually tired over-eater. And also made him the most impulsive member of the group. Sure, Dia is the one with the highest emotional intelligence, but it’s absolutely just intuition to him and he keeps relying on said intuition to make the craziest spur of the moment choices.
